How Callisto came to be
ORIGIN STORY
Callisto was born from the shared dream of our co-founders, Nathan and Wendy: to help more people discover the remarkable world of tea.
We believe tea deserves to be explored with the same curiosity we bring to wine, chocolate, and other products shaped by place and craft. Every tea at Callisto is hand-selected by Nathan and Wendy, not simply because of its name or reputation, but because it offers something worth experiencing and sharing. At Callisto, we serve only what we enjoy ourselves.
Our tea house is a place to taste, learn, slow down, and discover just how varied tea can be.
why single origin tea
TEA IS A REFUGE
Single-origin tea is at the heart of Callisto's tea collection. Our teas may come from an individual farm or estate, a particular producer or village, or a distinctive tea-growing region.
Where tea comes from matters. Climate, elevation, cultivar, harvest, processing, and the choices of the tea maker all contribute to what ultimately appears in the cup. Exploring tea through its origins allows us to appreciate those differences—and the people and traditions behind them.
For us, tea is also a refuge: an opportunity to slow down, pay attention, and experience something rooted in a particular place and moment.
What tea has to say
IF TEA COULD TALK
Every tea has a story. It may begin with the unusual place where it was grown or the way it was processed. It may be about a farmer or producer preserving a generations-old tradition, experimenting with a new technique, or approaching tea cultivation in a different way. Sometimes the story is also the inspiration behind the name we give a tea at Callisto.
Those stories give us another way to understand what is in the cup. But ultimately, the most important story is the one you discover when you drink the tea yourself.
